SUPPORTIVE CARE
Definition of Supportive Care: By easing the pain, fear and anger of those surrounding the patient, we also improve the quality of life for the patient. Supportive care is a comprehensive approach to serving not only the families, but also the friends and caregivers of patients who are critically ill. Our aim is to anticipate and respond to the psychological, social and spiritual needs of all those impacted by a life-threatening or life-altering illness. We think of it as tending the collateral damage of critical illnesses – a need that is too often overlooked.
